Description
In the summer of 1143, two important visitors arrive at the Abbey of Saint Peter and Saint Paul--one dead, one alive. The visitor in the coffin is William of Lythwood, come to be buried in the abbey's grounds. But the other visitor, the mighty prelate Gerbert, remembers that William had been accused of heretical views, and tries to prevent the burial. When a violent death ensues, Brother Cadfael is called once again from his herb garden to solve the murder.
